Two people in Lebanon held up two different banks and demanded the withdrawal of their own money.

According to various media reports, a woman with a gun held up a branch of a bank in the capital of Lebanon. According to Al-Jadeed TV, she said her gun was a toy.

The woman said she got $13,000 from her deposits. She was told she couldn't get $200 a month because she needed the funds for her sister's cancer treatment.

She said in the interview that she begged the branch manager to give her money before her sister died. I had nothing left to give.

She contemplated selling her organ so her sister wouldn't have to go to the hospital.

An armed man held up a Bankmed branch in Aley, a mountain city in southeast Lebanon, shortly after the first incident. Some of the man's money was taken out of his account.

Lebanon has been in an economic crisis since the beginning of the year. The country's banks have been limiting the amount of money people can withdraw from their bank accounts in order to prevent capital flight.

In August, an armed man held employees and customers at a bank hostage after he was told he couldn't withdraw money for his sick father's treatment. There was a crowd cheering on the man.

The incidents may prompt other people to do the same thing, according to a senior bank teller.

This is an opportunity for other people to do the same. As long as people are able to get away with it, they will keep on doing it.
