Kadarius Toney didn't play a lot in Week 1, but he doesn't seem to be concerned.
He told reporters that he gets paid to play. I'm not sure what the plan was. At the end of the day, I have to prepare as if I were on the field. I'm not sure what to say.
In the New York Giants' 21-20 win over the TennesseeTitans, Toney was on the field for just seven snaps. He didn't catch a pass but did record two runs for 23 yards.
Over his brief career, the Florida product has been injured many times. He missed seven games last season with various ailments and then was out for nearly the entire summer program after undergoing knee surgery this spring.
Almost every receiver on the roster passed up Toney on the depth chart. Kenny Golladay got more playing time than Toney in the first week of the season. Robinson's knee injury didn't seem to affect his playing time as he was on the field for just five snaps after the half.
The lack of playing time for Toney had nothing to do with his health, according to the first-year Giants coach. I mentioned this before a few weeks ago with our receiver position, it's a competitive situation. They will be evaluated weekly. Everyone needs to earn their role relative to inactives or playtime. It could be a whole game or it could be less.
The situation was taken in stride by Toney. He said that he wasn't upset because the Giants won.
