Mac Jones told reporters that he expects to play on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, after he was reported to have suffered back spasms in the first game of the season.

Jones said that everything felt good. Keeping it warm and throwing the ball.

After the Pats lost to the Dolphins, Jones went for an X-ray. According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the X-rays were negative and that Jones was suffering from back pain.

Jones played the entire game and went 21-of-30 for 213 yards and one touchdown.

New England drafted Jones in the 15th round of the 2021 draft. He helped lead the Pats to a 10-7 record and a spot in the playoffs.

The ex-Crimson Tide star completed 67.6% of his passes for 22 touchdown and 3,801 yards. He made it to the Pro Bowl.

After Josh McDaniels left to become the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, New England's offense was taken over by Joe Judge and MattPatricia.

The new regime didn't fare well in Week 1 as Miami took a big lead and went on to win 13-points. The New England rushing attack had 78 yards. Jones made a costly mistake on the first drive, and eight of the nine drives ended without a point.

T.J. Watt, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, will not play in the second game of the season because of a chest injury. The game is scheduled for 1 pm. The time is Sunday in Pittsburgh.
