Samantha Cristoforetti Will Be the First European Woman to Command the ISS

After making the first TikTok video while on the International Space Station, the first European woman to do so, was named to command the outpost.

She was the lead of the U.S. Orbital segment when she was launched to the International Space Station. She is ready to take on a bigger role and serve as the commander of the International Space Station. Cristoforetti said in a statement that he was "humbled by my appointment to the position of commander and look forward to drawing on the experience I've gained in space and on Earth."

The ceremony for Cristoforetti taking on the role of commander will be on September 28. Cristoforetti will become the fifth European commander of the space station when he receives a symbolic key from Artemyev. You will be able to watch the ceremony on the web.

The record for the longest mission in space by a woman was set by the TikTok-famous astronaut when she spent 199 days on the International Space Station. Cristoferetti returned to the International Space Station earlier this year and has been sharing her experience on social media.

On May 5, Cristoferetti shared her first TikTok. She has been documenting her daily life aboard the outpost, from when she zips herself up tight in a sleeping bag to when she does a hardcore space based workout. While using the toilet, she posted TikToks. Her fans love it, with her videos getting millions of views.

When she isn't making videos, she is working on the International Space Station, overseeing activities in the U.S., European, Japanese, and Canadian modules. The director of Human and Robotic Exploration at the European Space Agency believes thatSamantha is an excellent candidate for this role. She is the first European woman to hold the position of commander and pushes for female representation in the space sector.
