It is close. There is confirmation that accessory brands are on their way to Apple phones and tablets. The developer console that helps developers add Matter devices to its smart home platform went live today.

Matter promises to unify all your connected devices, making it easier for your smart thermostat to talk to your connected door lock and for you to talk to either one using any voice assistant or smart home app you choose. The first implementations of Matter are seeing the light of day.

We were able to see some Matter devices in action. Eve Systems shows off its smart plug that can be controlled by a bunch of different things.

One of the core features of Matter is multi- admin control, which can be found in the iPadOS and Apple's other mobile operating systems. If you want to turn down your thermostat or control your Amazon smart plug, you can ask your device to have more than one master.

Apple has been involved with Matter since it first started. The Matter controllers that your smart home network will be able to use are stated by all three manufacturers.

The Matter accessories section is going to be added to the operating system by the end of the year, according to someScreenshots. A Matter Devices & Services section has appeared in the account settings for some users, with a prompt to connect a new Matter device and the option to automatically show a notification when Matter devices are nearby, according to a report. The setup for smart home devices is one of the key features of Matter.

It seems more and more likely that Matter will hit its goal of a fall launch.
