Luka Doncic Received Injection for Injury During Slovenia's EuroBasket Exit to Poland

Luka Doncic didn't have his best showing as the team was eliminated by Poland in the quarterfinals.

Doncic told reporters that he received an injection in the third quarter after being knocked to the floor.

The 19-year-old was limited to 14 points on 5-of-15 shooting in the 90-87 loss. He also had six turnovers.

Poland advanced to the semifinals for the first time in 42 years, as the defending champion, Slovenia, was unable to complete a comeback after trailing by 23 points. He was not happy with his performance.

He said that he played badly. I let my team down, I let my country down, and that's on me.

He had scored over 35 points in each of the last three games. He had a chance to set a new EuroBasket record with 47 points in the group phase win over France. Doncic finishes the tournament with an average of 26.0 points, 7.7 rebound and 6.6 assists.

It's concerning for the Mavericks if Doncic gets injured. He missed 17 games in the regular season and 3 in the playoffs. This year's squad is less equipped to deal with him being out for a long period of time.

The Dallas Mavericks lost their second-leading scorer in free agency after he signed with the New York Knicks. Doncic will be relied on more in 2022-23 than he has been.

The Mavericks will play the Phoenix Suns on October 19th.
