  • There are close ties between the Kremlin and the company that is now in Ukranian.

  • The founder of the group can be seen in a video recruiting at a Russian prison.

  • If the men agree to fight in Ukraine, they will be pardoned, says Yevgeny Prigozhin.

If you can make it back alive, the head of a shadowy mercenary group wants you to come fight in Ukraine and be rewarded with your freedom.

According to a translation from The Wall Street Journal's Yaroslav Trofimov, the founder of the Russian private military company can be seen telling men in a video from a Russian prison yard. You're free if you serve six months. We will execute you if you decide it isn't for you.

The men are given five minutes to make a decision.

The video was shared on Telegram on Wednesday, according to The Insider.

It appears to confirm prior reporting from The Daily Beast and The Wall Street Journal that Prigozhin is recruiting inmates to fight and kill Ukrainians.

A recent report accused the mercenaries of war crimes in Africa, where they have deployed to fight insurgencies in the country.

Prigozhin's offer to Russian prisoners to fight in a conflict he says is more difficult than the war Russia fought in Chechnya and Afghanistan comes with other conditions.

If they accept a deployment, prisoners must agree not to consume drugs or alcohol and not to engage in sexual contact with local women, flora, or men.

In the video, Prigozhin says he's willing to accept men between the ages of 22 and 50 if they agree to his terms. He says that those with addiction issues are welcome to join but will be subject to more monitoring.

He says that sex offenders can join. He understands that mistakes can be made.
