Scott Kirby, the CEO of United, and Sir Tim Clark, the President of Emirates, stood next to Boeing 777s from both carriers.

The partnership is serious and could grow, according to Kirby.

He said partnerships aren't short term deals.

Next March, United will launch a flight between its hub at Newark Liberty International Airport and the massive hub at Dubai International Airport. The flight leaves Newark at 10:15 p.m. and arrives in Dubai the next day at 7:40 p.m. The return flight will leave at 1:45 a.m. and arrive at Newark at 9:05 a.m. A Boeing plane will operate the flight.

Passengers who book a flight with United will be able to connect to flights from the other side of the world. After the event, Luc Bondar, United's executive vice president, said that the loyalty integration would be expanded.

It will sell onward connections to United flights at the San Francisco International Airport, George Bush Houston Intercontinental Airport, and Chicago O'Hare International Airport. There will be an interline agreement between the two airlines.

Relations between the U.S. and Middle Eastern countries have been bad for a decade. The U.S. carriers have long complained about the unfair state subsidies that the ME3 carriers receive. The ME3 carriers are able to offer service that is superior to the U.S. carriers because of the subsidies.

The carriers offer fifth freedom routes, which is one of the main points of contention. United, Delta and American Airlines do not offer flights between New York-area airports and Milan Malpensa Airport. It is possible for a carrier to fly passengers and cargo from its home country to a second country and then to a third country. There is a chance that the flight from Newark Liberty International Airport to Athens will carry a United flight number.

United did its part to push back against the unfairness of the subsidies, even though it was seen as the leader of the anti- ME3 crusade.

Oscar Munoz insulted the ME3 by saying they weren't airlines.

Those airlines aren't airlines. International branding vehicles for their countries.

United ended its interline agreement with five Middle Eastern airlines.

A codeshare partnership is reportedly about to be launched.

Some airlines are rethinking their battles with the ME3 due to industry turbulence caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

American Airlines has deepened its relationship with Qatar Airways. American started service from John F. Kennedy International Airport to the DOH.

It is clear that there will be more to come from United's partnership with Emirates.
