A comparison of the clips of Ariel, the real one featuring Black actress Halle Bailey, and an Ariel modified to be white is shown.

A user was banned for sharing a racist clip from Disney's new live action film The Little Mermaid.

The clip, which was shared earlier this week by user@vandalibm, led to a lot of outrage on the social networking site. Someone whitewashed Bailey and changed her features, including reddening her hair, but also pointed out the irony that whoever created the clip made no changes to her voice, seeming to indicate that they found it acceptable.

There is more that is disappointing. The entire movie could be fixed in 24 hours upon its release, according to the original post. Attempting to locate the account leads to a message suspending it.

The original creator of the video was credited with turning the actor into a ginger white girl. The entire movie can be fixed when it comes out with 4x A6000. For wokecels, it's over. Vandalibm said that he shared the video for educational purposes.

Please don't misinterpret this in a racist way, it's only for educational purposes. A friend of mine works with Artificial Intelligence and the stuff he can make and wanted to show people his field of study.

Gizmodo reached out to Disney for comment on the modified video, but didn't get a response.

The user who is referred to as "he" and "friend" by @vandalibm is a self-proclaimed PhD in Artificial Intelligence and computer vision. The account itself did not share the edited video, so it's possible that the account might be telling the truth.

Four days ago, the trailer for The Little Mermaid was released, and it features Bailey singing a song called "Part of Your World." The trailer caused a lot of backlash on social media. Bailey posted a video of happy fans reacting to the clip.
