In honor of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, a number of flights were temporarily stopped at the airport.

To coincide with the transporting of the queen's coffin between Buckingham Palace and Westminster Hall where it will lie in public view for four days before Monday's state funeral, leaders decided to alter the flight roster within a window of one hour and 50 minutes.

In order to respect the period of mourning following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the airport will be making alterations to their operations.

On Wednesday, September 14th, some flights will be disrupted in order to make sure there is no noise in central London. The airlines will inform passengers of any changes to flights.

The queen will be laid to rest on Monday and there will be disruption.

We anticipate further changes to the operation on Monday, September 19 when Her Majesty's funeral is due to take place and will communicate those in more detail over the next few days. As we work to limit the impact on upcoming events, we apologize for the disruption caused.

Local road closings up to the time of the queen's funeral will be the biggest roadblock for passengers trying to get to and from the airport on Monday.

Local roads will be impacted by the procession of the Queen's Coffin. Passengers are encouraged to consider alternative airport routes.

After the queen's funeral, the United Kingdom warned foreign delegates that they wouldn't get private jets. Air traffic in the capital is not kept at a minimum due to security concerns and the use of helicopter's is not allowed.
