Why Manchester United vs. Leeds is a postponed fixture (1:48)

The Manchester United vs.Leeds match will not take place this weekend due to being 200 miles away from London. There is a time and a place for it.

10:00 AM ET

When he's asked questions about the national team's Manchester United contingent, the England manager can sometimes bristle, knowing that anything he says is likely to become the focus of the story. He has reason to keep an eye on Old United for the next two months as he narrows down his squad for the World Cup.

With time running out to get into the England squad for the World Cup, Marcus, Jadon, Harry, and Harry are worried about their spots.

After paying the price for a poor year at club level, the players are trying to play their way back in, while the others are unsure of their place at United. All four of United's England hopefuls are already on the clock because they have until Nov. 13 to be in the final squad of 26.

You can watch LaLiga, Bundesliga, MLS, more on the US version of the network.

Marcus Rashford

During his time in the squad, he managed just five goals in 32 games. He wasn't the only one who found it difficult at United, as first manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and then Ralf Rangnick struggled to get a tune out of a team that was supposed to challenge for the title. After scoring in back-to-back games in January, Marcus Rashford didn't find the net again for the rest of the season and when Rangnick was picking his team for a crucial Champions League round of 16 second leg against Atleti Madrid in March, the 24 year old

The bad news for Rashford is that he's not the only one who likes him. He's scored three goals for the team so far this season, two of which were in high-profile games againstArsenal andLiverpool. He will have to take his chance to be included in the England squad for the Nations League games against Italy and Germany at the end of the month if he wants to get a recall.

Harry Maguire

He kept his place with England even though he struggled at United. Maguire has lost his place in the defence after the 57.37 million acquisition of Lisandro Martinez from Amsterdam in the summer. He hasn't started a game since August 13th, when he was in the starting XI for the defeats against the Seagulls and the Bees.

England have more options in attacking positions than they do at the back, so they can't be put in the same group. He says that he has credit in the bank because he's continued to show up for England whenever he's been picked. "In the last eight squads, he has ended up pulling out of six," he said in March. Over the course of a long period of time, Maguire has been a key part of the team.

Even if he doesn't win his place at United, it's not the end of the world if he goes to the World Cup. In the past, Maguire has been given some wiggle room because of his previous international performances.

Jadon Sancho

Like his United teammate, Sancho is trying to force his way back into the team. He has made a case to be considered for the World Cup after scoring two goals in the first two games.

He's fortunate that some of the other forwards around the fringes of the squad aren't making an impact. Emile Smith Rowe has only played 48 minutes in the premier league this season. The two players have played 423 and 523 respectively.

When it comes to naming his forwards, Southgate has more options in attacking positions than he does in defence, and he will be able to pick on form rather than reputation. Tammy Abraham, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Harry Kane were among the players named in the Nations League squad by England. Since then, both Sancho and Rashford have risen up the pecking order, while Bowen is yet to find the back of the net in the league.

Luke Shaw

Shaw played a key role in England's run at Euro 2020 and scored in the final against Italy, but he's not certain to go to the Middle East. Alex Telles was brought in to compete with him for the left-back position. Telles moved to Sevilla on a loan and Ten Hag asked Shaw if he wanted to stay.

Shaw hasn't played since the loss at Brentford on the second weekend of the season and Malacia has won praise for his performances. It's likely that he would have to make a significant contribution at United before he could be considered for the left-back position, since he doesn't have the same depth on the left.
