As someone who has followed the horror story of former President Trump and how he has corrupted our democracy, I have been stumped recently as to why a former assistant. The Biden administration's Department of Justice is being defended by Gen. William Barr. I didn't think it was a last-minute effort to save his legacy. It's too little and too late.
In the last few days, I realized something. The former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York wrote a book about how the Department of Justice was turned into a corrupt extension of the Trump administration.

The columnist made a mistake by making a common mistake about the report issue. She writes that it's worth recalling what the special counsel said. The investigation found that the Trump campaign did not collude with Russia to influence the election.
The report didn't say that Trump didn't do anything with Russia. There wasn't enough evidence to prove a conspiracy. That is a huge difference.
In the first volume of the report, there were many problems with obtaining reliable information, including witnesses lying and communications being deleted. While this report embodies factual and legal determinations that the Office of Special Counsel believes to be accurate and complete to the fullest extent possible, the Office can't rule out the possibility that the unavailable information would shed additional light on.
The case has faded from a legal point of view.

Barr is auditioning for a job in order to rehabilitate his image. There is a failure on both counts.
Barr should be investigated and prosecuted if necessary. There were no deals. We are at a breaking point as a country because of him.
