The Brio 500 is a newWebcam with a compact design and a show mode that broadcasts what is on your desk. It is the same as the classic C920Webcam. It will be on sale this month for $129 and a new headset for $99.99.

A pair of beamforming microphones that reduce background noise are part of the design of the Brio 500. The dial on the right side of the webcam can be used to bring down the privacy shutter. It's possible to show off your desk by tilting the camera towards it.

If you want 60 frames per second instead of 30 frames per second, you have to lower the resolution of the Brio 500 to 720p, which is the same as a high definition camera. Wendy Spander told me that the C920 has the same sensor as the new one, but it has an upgraded one, which should make for better image quality. I saw the webcams briefly in person, but not long enough to make a final decision. The field of view is 90 degrees, but the camera can crop in to 78 or 60 degrees for a better view. If you are in a dimly lit or backlit environment, it is possible for the camera to automatically center the camera on the person speaking.

The Brio 500 has a mount mechanism for monitors. There are two parts to it. The standard plastic mount is designed to fit on the top of your monitor, and then the webcam is attached to it using magnets. It is a design that allows you to change the angle of the camera. The magnetic mount on the bottom of the webcam can be removed to reveal a tripod mount.
