During its State of Play on Tuesday, Sony gave us a look at some of the first digital collectibles that will be available as rewards. The items, which Sony insists are not NFTs, are basically little virtual statues of devices like the PS3 and the PocketStation, as well as characters from games, and Sony mascots.
The program will allow members to earn points with digital collectibles. It isn't clear what the points will do yet, but the company has said that you may be able to buy some products from the PS Store. In order to get points and collectibles, you will have to participate in campaigns, which will include things like playing a game once a month or participating in tournaments. If you're the first person to get a Platinum trophy in your time zone, you'll earn one.
There is a shot of nostalgia.
One of the first campaigns will be called "Hit Play/1994," which will involve launching games that match song based clues. Sony said that more details are coming later, and that participating will allow you to win digital collectibles.
It was 1/2.
The program will come to the US and Europe in the weeks that follow, according to Sony. Initially, the program won't be available on actual PS3s, but it will be available on the app.
