Gabe Kapler was 2021 NL Manager of the Year for a reason

The San Francisco Giants haven't been very good. It was anticipated. Brandon Crawford is 35 years old. Brandon Belt, Darin Ruf, and Mike Yastrzemski all had down seasons. Kevin Gausman is gone, and while his replacement, Carlos Rodn was more than adequate, injuries to guys like Anthony De Sclafani and Alex Wood forced the Giants to rely more on guys like Alex Cobb and Jakob Junis. That doesn't bode well for a team that just won a lot of games.

Kapler was named NL Manager of the Year for the 2021 season, and while his team has failed to reach those heights in the future, he is not the problem. It was on full display during the game against Atlanta.

Kapler brought in a new pitcher for the eighth. After surrendering four consecutive base runners to start the game, Littell got Austin Riley to ground into a double play to end the threat. The Giants lead had shrunk from three runs to one. The runner was standing on third base, and he thought he could get Matt out to hold on to the lead. Kapler didn't give him a chance. Kapler pulled the relief pitcher before any more damage could be done because he had allowed six runs in his last 4.1innings. The person didn't like that. After handing Kapler the pearl, he had a few words for him.

There is a BR Walkoff.

Look at Wynns reaction. His eyes got big and wide as he looked between Kapler and Littell. It must have been a bit out of pocket for Littell to make that kind of noise. The best response came from Kapler. Kapler went back to talking to his players after staring at Littell for a second. Kapler didn't say anything to his pitcher. He was taken aback by what he heard and left it behind. It is nice to see a professional manager do something like that.

Kapler's reaction after the incident was perfect. In front of the cameras, he didn't chew Littell. He doesn't want to draw attention to himself with a yelling match. Instead, Kapler invites Littell into the tunnel for a heart-to-heart, and while we can't assume the conversation was a series of apologies and hugs, we can assume that if their talk happened in front of all of Littell's teammates and the cameras, The Jomboy video would break down what was said, who hurt who, and how this makes everyone involved look. Kapler knows a thing or two about things. He doesn't want to diminish Littell's reputation, he just wants to make sure he doesn't have bad things to say after being pulled

It wasn't necessary to see Littell get screamed at, but he had to be brought down a peg. The pro move was made from Kapler. It was an underrated move. They are in good hands.
