Today has been a pleasant day of video games. The story trailer for God of War was dropped by Sony.

The return of Kratos and Atreus is seen as a sign that the end of the world is near. It seems like the father-son odd couple make new friends and enemies along the way.

Kratos gives a hard learned lesson about how to defy fate in the trailer. Like his father, Atreus has secrets of his own that will require him to build a deeper bond with him. God of War was an unexpected delight from a franchise that was more known for its boobs and blood than it was for its pathos.

The trailer gave us a glimpse at the new controller that was revealed. The Leviathan Axe and the Blades of Chaos have been added to Kratos' arsenal. He ripped up enemies with fiery blades and used them to whip across the landscape as he did in the previous God of War saga. Platforming and puzzle solving will be a bigger part of the game than they were in the previous one.

The trailer gave a glimpse of the new worlds we'll get to traverse and the new enemies we'll face as THOR arrives. Before the world ends on November 9th, you have plenty of time to learn and play the first game.
