Soon, no one will be able to hear you scream.

A Tokyo-based company called Shiftall, owned by Panasonic, has come up with a device called the "mutalk," which is basically a muzzle to capture the sound directly from your mouth. It looks more like a torture device than a consumer electronics product.

The company seems to have doctored stock images, muzzling models with a white, virtual reality headset-shaped appendage covering their mouths.

Throw an already bulky virtual reality headset in the mix and you have the perfect sensory deprivation experience: a gizmo that looks more like a dungeon than a store.

Talk to the Hand

According to the website, the mutalk works by sending voice input to a computer. The fully enclosed device makes it difficult to hear speech.

It's hard for family members to hear you when you're having fun in the virtual reality world.

People living in apartment complexes are being targeted by the company.

Shiftall comes with a mirror that can tell if someone is wearing the same outfit as before and a headset that blocks most of your peripheral vision.

Is this how we are going to spend our time? Is sweaty virtual reality headsets enough of a burden? We are not sure.

The company will be selling the mutalk for 140 dollars if you are.

The Bizarre Muzzle Microphone keeps your mouth open.

There's more on the metaverse.
