Whitewater Investigator Ken Starr Dead At 76

The family of Kenneth Starr said he died Tuesday at the age of 76.

Starr died in a Houston hospital from surgery.

Starr was raised in San Antonio. He was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals in 1982. Starr was asked to investigate the suicide of White House counsel Vince Foster and Clinton's investments in a real estate firm. The investigation was expanded after Clinton denied having sex with Monica Lewinsky. Clinton was impeached in 1998 for lying about his affair with Lewinsky in a sworn deposition. Under George W. Bush, Starr was the U.S. solicitor general. The board of regents voted to remove Starr as president because he and other officials failed to appropriately handle allegations of rape on campus.
