Ken Starr, prosecutor in Clinton Whitewater probe, dies at 76

The family of Ken Starr said that he died Tuesday at the age of 76.

The statement said that Starr died of surgery-related problems.

Starr was nominated by Ronald Reagan for a seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals. He was the dean of the school of law at the Pepperdine University.

Whitewater began as a probe of real estate investments by then-president Clinton and first lady Hillary Clinton, but branched out to encompass many other areas, including the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal.

The affair began when she was a White House intern.

The House impeached Clinton after he lied about the relationship. Clinton was found not guilty of all charges.
