I will keep it brief since we have a lot on the docket. There are some exciting announcements about the upcoming Hot Pod Summit in LA, as well as a break from the hit show of the royal family.
The Hot Pod Summit LA will have guests from various companies.
The Hot Pod Summit in LA is less than two months away and we have a killer lineup. I hope you will be as excited about who we have as I am. The summit headliners include.
Pod Save America host and Crooked Media founder Tommy Vietor is also the head of talk studios. Nick Quah founded Hot Pod.
I want to dig into the relationship between Hollywood and the podcasting industry. We will announce more programming info as it becomes available for the summit. The invite-only event is being held in conjunction with work x work and On Air Fest's LA Annex, which runs from November 3rd to 5th. You can find more information about On Air LA Annex here.
Summit invites will be going out this week and we will hold a lottery for additional seats next week.
In the wake of Queen Elizabeth's death, the host of the show paused.
The official mourning period for Queen Elizabeth II will end on September 20th, and as a result, the duchess is putting her show on hiatus. Archetypes is the biggest talk show to date on the platform. The Joe Rogan Experience is at the top of the chart.
If the current chart is any indication, a two-week break won't have much of an effect on the show's audience. There is a chance that there will be a surge of listening when it comes back. The Crown has seen an 800 percent increase in viewers over the last few days.
Archetypes' profile is raised by the tabloid coverage. Reports that the palace takes umbrage with the accounting of events and that King Charles is asking Prince Harry to cancel the show altogether are going to bring in radio stations hoping for candid anecdotes about royal life. WillQueen Elizabeth's death be off-limits?
More users will be able to use the newPodcast feature.
I reported in August that there was a new feature within the Spaces tab. It was initially only available to a small group of people across the world, but now it's available to users of the mobile operating system.
The feature is located at the top of the page. Listeners can pick and choose shows from a library, but instead of that, they are drawn from all ofRSS and its own conversations. Lots and lots of data on what users like is one of the main factors in favour of the new approach to discovery.
The experimental features are available to users who pay $4.99 per month. The test pool should be widened and feedback on the new product increased so that the final version of the product can be adjusted. Let me know what you think about the new feature if you are a follower of the social networking site.
The data shows that conservatives are the dominant group.
The conservatives have a new data tracker for popular political shows. Conservative-leaning shows currently pump out three times as many episodes as liberal-leaning shows.
On the other hand, this is in stark contrast to the findings of Sounds Profitable, who found that the majority of the people who listen to the show are liberal. Liberal creators don't make political shows, they just make other types of shows. The left has never been able to duplicate the tradition of right-wing talk radio. It makes sense that hosts who are too extreme for mainstream media would thrive.
The data doesn't track the number of episodes or the number of listens. There are more right-wing podcasts than liberals.
The top words used on the shows are revealed by the tracker. Liberal hosts talk about Trump, judges, and Mar-a-Lago, while conservatives talk about Biden, America, and the queen. You can use the data to create your own graph if you want.
I think it's great that they're taking podcasting seriously. A deep look into the world of political podcasts is provided by this tool.
It's a cold week. I'll be back next week.
