Lindsey Graham introduced a bill that would ban most abortions in the country.

The bill was introduced less than three months after the Supreme Court's decision. The measure would make it more difficult to get an abortion in many states.

Democrats have a slim majority in both the House and Senate, so the legislation has little chance of passing.

Expectations of a Republican victory in the November elections have been thrown into doubt as evidence mounts that the reversal of the abortion law has galvanized Democrats. A GOP takeover of Congress would lead to an erosion of women's rights, and many held up Graham's bill as a prime example.

Are you ready for a nationwide abortion ban? Progressives will get what they want if they vote for republicans.

Graham's bill would restrict the procedure nationwide after less than four months of pregnancies, a threshold that falls within the second trimester.

According to the health-policy nonprofit KFF, abortions are usually done at 21 weeks of pregnancy or later. According to that organization, that phrase is not an official medical term, and that abortions at that stage are hard to obtain.

The 15-week limit precedes the point of fetal viability. Women have the right to get an abortion before viability, and states can impose restrictions after that point.

In June of this year, the high court struck down a case in favor of abortion rights After the appointment of three of Donald Trump's nominees, the court gave individual states the power to set their abortion policies.

Several red states immediately banned abortion. Graham supports states setting their own abortion law. Graham said in May that he thought that was the most constitutionally sound way of dealing with the issue.

The current version of Graham's bill would have banned abortion after 20 weeks, rather than the current limit of 15 weeks.

The issue of abortion is a controversial one. The new legislation was unveiled at a press conference by Graham.

He said that states have the ability to do it at a state level and that Washington has the ability to speak on the issue. I have made a decision to speak.
