The software that powers the iPhone was released yesterday. This article is not about the new features that were included. There are a few things you should do immediately to take advantage of those features.
I've tried to highlight a few features that can make a big difference in how you use your phone. The comprehensive review from Federicco Viticci of MacStories is a must read. The five things you should do immediately in order to get the most out of your device are listed below.
You can now change the look of your lock screen. Addingwidgets on your Lock Screen will make it easier to get information without having tounlock your device.
Press and hold on the lock screen to modify yours. You'll be able to change the image or addwidgets. The ability to pair a Home Screen with a Lock Screen is new in the latest version of the operating system. Pressing the Lock Screen will allow you to change between lock screens.
The Lock Screen still has notifications at the bottom of the screen. There are three different ways to display notifications.
A stack is the default option, but you can choose a list or count. The count at the bottom of the Lock Screen lets you know how many notifications you have. You can use a finger to see what is there.
The ability to set a focus and control notifications has been expanded by Apple. You can choose to display a Lock Screen and Home Screen on your phone, as well as a watch face based on your focus. You can choose which accounts are available in different apps.
For example, if you have a weekend focus, you can set a specific Lock Screen with a set ofwidgets. You can hide your work email and appointments in different apps by choosing which notifications you get.
One for work, one for not-work, and one for when you really need to focus are recommended by me. My wife and daughters were the only ones who were allowed to send text messages. Everything else can wait if I'm focused on getting things done.
One of the best things you can do with Apple's new operating system is to turn on the battery percentage indicator. The battery icon in the upper right corner of the screen would slowly deplete, giving you an idea of how much battery you have left.
You can replace that with a number that will let you know how much is left inside of the icon. It's not because it's more precise. If you're a person who gets battery anxiety, this is a better option because the background stays full and you don't have to worry about your phone dying.
It gives you the information without being anxious. If you don't have a visual image of your battery percentage, you can see it.
If you take daily medication, you should set it up in the app. You can now keep track of your medication on your phone.
You can either set them up by scanning the label or manually adding them. You can choose the shape and color of what you take if you take multiple drugs.
You can log and track when you take your medication, and you will get a notification when you take it. It's easy to export a PDF with a full list of your medications and doses if you use the health app.
