When GoldenEye 007, the N64's beloved first-person shooter, would show up again is a question that has been on every Nintendo fan's mind. We finally have an answer, and it is even better than we could have hoped.

During a Nintendo Direct presentation this morning, the company revealed that several more N64 games were going to be added to its Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

Nintendo did not reveal when GoldenEye 007 would be available through the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, which is only available through an annual $50 subscription fee, but did reveal that for the first time the game would include online Multiplayer.

On the same day that Nintendo announced that GoldenEye 007 would return on the Switch, Rare announced on its website that a new version of the game would be available on the Xbox Game Pass.

The N64 was known for grinding to slideshow speeds when four friends found themselves in a battle all in the same room, but the Golden Eye 007 will run at 4K with a smooth framerate. You won't have to worry about the console accidentally being yanked to the floor by that one friend who's angry about being defeated by the Golden Gun if you play split screen with modern controllers.

There is no word on when the Xbox version will be released, but there is a promise of coming soon.

According to the official James Bond website, Golden Eye 007 will only be available on the Nintendo Switch version. We are trying to confirm that, and have updated the article to reflect that.

Exclusive to the new Switch version of the 1997 title will be online play, allowing 007 fans across the world to take part in the popular four person multiplayer mode.
