Boeing delivered 35 planes last month, helped in part by a restart in handovers of new planes to airlines
For the past two years, the wide-body Dreamliners have been delayed due to manufacturing flaws.
The FAA cleared the new planes for use last month and they were given to several customers. One plane was given to each carrier.
The two new jets that American Airlines received last month were not included. Boeing ordered the jets to be flown to Victorville, California, where they would be put to use.
Half of the net orders for new planes last month were for the 737 Max. Net orders for the year are 388 and deliveries are 277. That is behind the 637 net orders and380 deliveries reported by the other company.
Despite the surge in air travel, both manufacturers say supply chain constraints are limiting their ability to increase production.
