According to the New York Times, the National Archives staff members told the House Oversight Committee that they weren't sure if all presidential records were in the agency's possession.

She asked the agency to conduct an urgent review of the presidential records recovered from the Trump White House.

According to the letter, Trump gave back all the records he took from the White House after he left office.

The letter came after the Justice Department seized some 100 classified records from Trump's Mar-A-Lago home and as the agency's probe remains in limbo until a special master's review of the materials seized in the search is complete.

In June, an attorney for Trump signed a letter stating that there were no more classified documents at Mar-A-Lago, contrary to the Justice Department's list of items it recovered in the August search.

I urge NARA to seek a personal certification from Donald Trump that he has surrendered all presidential records that he illegally removed from the White House.

The Espionage Act is being investigated by the Justice Department after 33 boxes of records were found at his Mar-A-Lago home. It's not clear whether he took actions to declassify the documents. The Justice Department has tried to get the records several times, including through visits to the residence and a grand jury subpoena. The property of the former president was searched by federal agents in January. Two weeks after the raid, Trump requested the appointment of a special master. The Justice Department stopped looking at documents in the criminal investigation. Cannon needs to approve one of the candidates for a special master before the DOJ will accept them. She has to make a decision on whether to allow the DOJ to look at the documents again.

The House Oversight panel wants to know if the White House records are still in Trump's possession.

The panel says archives is unsure whether Trump surrendered all his records.
