The Grand Canyon National Park is located in the state of Arizona. The South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park will begin to phase in greater water restrictions and conserve water due to a series of breaks in the Transcanyon Waterline.

The canyon's North Rim will continue to be in a state of water scarcity.

The park will remain in conserve mode until the break and water in storage tanks are fixed.

Existing measures for both the North and South are still in place.

The park staff and partners have been able to conserve water by using disposable dishes and utensils in restaurants, serving water by request only, and using low water-use methods to clean hotel rooms.

Hikers in the back country should carry all their water or methods to treat water, according to park officials.

The overnight lodging at Phantom Ranch is closed until further notice.
