  • The congressman accused Tony Ornato of trying to hurt Cassidy Hutchinson.

  • According to the Republican, members of the Jan. 6 panel believe Ornato was the leader.

  • The key figure in Hutchinson's testimony was retired in August.

According to a report from CNN, members of the House Select Committee believe Tony Ornato was involved in attempts to undermine Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony.

Representatives on the panel think Ornato led the charge in contradiction of Hutchinson's public testimony earlier this year while he was still at the agency.

The Secret Service agent who ran Donald Trump's security detail left the agency last month to pursue a career in the private sector.

Ornato was one of the key figures in Hutchinson's bombshell testimony.

Hutchinson testified that Ornato told her that Trump tried to grab the steering wheel of the vehicle he was traveling in and lunged at a Secret Service agent while demanding to be taken to the Capitol during the chaos of January 6, 2021.

Hutchinson's testimony was rejected by anonymous sources in the press. According to several media outlets, Secret Service agents were willing to testify that Trump did not try to lunge at them or take control of the vehicle on January 6th.

Kinzinger is accusing Ornato of being involved in the backlash.

I think it's important to remember that Tony Ornato will testify under oath and that he pushed back against Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony and said it's not true. The Republican said that he didn't testify under oath.

Kate Driscoll told CNN that her client plans to continue cooperating in the investigations related to the events of January 6.

Liz Cheney, the top Republican on the January 6 panel, threw her full support behind Hutchinson and a DC police officer later testified that Trump had a "heated exchange" with his security team.

CNN reported this week that investigators have learned new information about a series of deleted Secret Service test messages, which may or may not be related to the Capitol attack.

The Secret Service issued a statement in response to Hutchinson's testimony.

Individuals with first-hand knowledge of the conversations and interactions referenced by the Committee will be made available for sworn testimony. We are waiting for the right time to do so.
