  • Google reportedly shutters plans for a new Pixelbook and the team behind the laptop.
  • The most recent laptop, the Pixelbook Go, was released in 2019.
  • It's been speculated that Google would release a Pixelbook 2 powered by a Tensor chip sometime in 2023.

If you're holding out for a new device from the company, you may be disappointed to hear that it's been canceled.

It's been a long time since the release of the latest iteration of the device, and now it looks like we won't see another one next year. According to reports, the team behind the laptop has stopped work on a new device.

In late 2021, a leak suggested that the company wouldn't be releasing a second iteration of the device in 2022. The company said it didn't know about the potential for another. The old plans are no longer in existence.

The cancellation of the Pixelbook and its development team has not yet been confirmed by the company.

A communications manager for the company addressed the rumors.

We are committed to building and supporting a portfolio of products that are innovative and helpful for our users, even though we don't share future product plans or personnel information. We work to transition team members across devices and services when we shift priorities.

The Pixelbook Go was well-built and clean. The laptop had the option of a 4k display.

We've been waiting to see when the second iteration of the device would be released. We were wondering if the laptop would be powered by the Tensor chip. There were rumors that a chip for its laptop was being worked on by the search engine.

The cancellation of plans for a newPixelbook seems like a strange move considering the focus of the company. If it were powered by Tensor, a new laptop would fit perfectly with its plans, but it remains to be seen how well it would compete against some of the best laptops on the market.

It seems that the focus of the company is shifting to other products, such as the Pixel watch and the upcomingPixel tablets. The first step in producing a wristwatch of its own will come with a new phone during the Made ByGoogle event in October. It would've been nice to see both the laptop and the tablet launch at the same time, but that's not going to happen.
