Only one of the original Seven Wonders of the World is still standing today. Since the 2nd century B.C., the other six have been destroyed.
There are ruins of the Temple of Artemis in Turkey. After the initial list of the seven wonders of the world was published, most of the Lighthouse of Alexandria and the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus remained. Many of the wonders have depictions of them that are relatively accurate.
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon are said to have existed some 2,500 years ago. The gardens were not mentioned in the Babylonian writings. Today's scholars only speculate on where they were and how they came to be.
Some people are unsure if they were located in the ancient Assyrian city of Nineveh or the modern city of Babylon. The existence of the world wonder is thought to have been created by Greek writers.
