Stephen Curry told Rolling Stone that the Golden State Warriors had internal talks about acquiring Kevin Durant and that he would love to play with him again.
There was a discussion about if he was available. Curry did multiple interviews with the magazine as part of its October cover story.
Curry said he was never hesitant in endorsing the idea of a reunion with his former teammate and teammate of three seasons, KD. KD left the Warriors in a sign-and-trade deal to join the Nets.
Curry said that he talked with his brother, who is a teammate of the Nets player.
I think KD is a really good dude because of the fact that we have played with him for three years. Stephen Curry thinks he's being misinterpreted. He has had things happen in his life that have hurt his ability to trust people around him. I got to know him through playing with him and having played with him. I really like that guy.
Curry said that he had to consider what a trade for the formerMVP would cost and that he has full confidence in the Warriors' ability to repeat as champion.
If you said "Oh, KD's coming back, and we're gonna play with him", I would be like, "Hell, yeah!" Curry spoke to the magazine. You have to think about what that really means. How does it look?
I'm like, 'Hell, yeah!' I'm playing with Andrew, Jordan, and Draymond. Emotions and events happen to the league. You don't know how things work if anyone says that you wouldn't entertain that conversation. If we run this thing back, I have complete faith in my team that we can win it again.
Sources said that in a meeting with Nets governor Joe Tsai in London last month, Durant wanted the brain trust of coach Steve Nash and general manager Sean Marks to decide between him and a new team. The Nets and Durant agreed to move forward.
The extension he signed with the Nets last summer kicks in this season.
