As of Monday morning, the Dodgers have a magic number of one to get into the playoffs.
With their 11-2 victory over the San Diego Padres on Sunday, the Dodgers thought they had secured their 10th consecutive playoff appearance. Manager Dave Roberts gave the players and staff caps with the playoffs logo on them after the game.
The Padres could overtake the Dodgers for the NL West title if Los Angeles finishes in a three-way tie with the Brewers andCardinals. The Brewers would win the NL Central and the Cards would win the wild-card.
The Dodgers can make it to the playoffs with a victory over the D-backs. Los Angeles could win the division title next week.
Before Sunday's games, MLB used the Dodgers' 4-3 record against the Brewers as a head-to-head tiebreaker and didn't consider a three-team tie.
The Brewers would need to win their last 21 games in order for them to finish with a 96-66 record.
