Russian troops are quickly fleeing from their positions as the Ukrainian military liberates territory in the northeast.

Both sides in the conflict were surprised by how quickly Russian lines crumbled after the offensive gained steam last week.

A Ukrainian soldier from an intelligence unit told The Telegraph that Russian troops who fled from the front lines left behind a lot of weaponry.

There was a lot of vehicles and weapons left. The Ukrainian commander told the paper that they couldn't transfer it all to their rear.

There is a video on the defense ministry's website that shows a bunch of abandoned Russian military vehicles. The caption in the video said everyone gets a tank. There is enough tanks for everybody. That's a great bonus.

Russia is trying to maintain its status as the largest supplier of military equipment for the Ukrainian army, and even to improve its status, knowing that lend-lease will come into effect.

In the last two weeks, Ukrainian forces have launched counteroffensives in the country's northeast and southern regions in an attempt to regain territory they lost to the Russians.

Russian troops have been forced to take "emergency defensive actions" because of the advances of the Ukrainians, according to British intelligence.

Russian troops fled from their positions so they could evade Ukrainian drones that they stole bikes and vehicles from locals.

In an update on Monday, the General Staff of the armed forces said that it had forced Russians to abandon their positions and flee. Property and vehicles have been taken from local residents.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a speech on Sunday that his military has liberated 1,250 square miles of territory from Russian troops.

The Russian army is showing its strength. It is a good choice for them to flee. There is no place for the people in Ukraine.
