VIDEO: British Airways flight attendants left in tears when pilot announces Queen’s death mid-flight

The pilot made the announcement mid-flight.

The British Airways flight crew members burst into tears when they heard the news of the Queen's death.

In a video taken by US passenger Michael Capiraso, the pilot can be heard saying, "Elizabeth, the Queen, passed away earlier today with the family by her side."

I wanted to let you know before you get to the terminal that many will be very sad about this.

We have 40 minutes to land, so it will give you some time to think. All of us will be thinking about her family at this time.

The Queen visited the headquarters of British Airways in February as part of the airline's 100th anniversary celebrations.

The Queen passed away at the age of 96 years.

King Charles III was declared the monarch on Saturday.

As the United Kingdom mourns the death of the Queen, preparation is underway for her funeral, as well as a number of code operations.
