has drag raced the Porsche Taycan Turbo S against the Tesla Model S Performance "Raven" to answer the questions on the automotive world's lips - which is faster?

The recently released Porsche Taycan features an unconventional 800-volt battery system that is capable of producing 750 BHP. This, along with 774 lb-ft of torque, gives the Taycan a 0-60 MPH time in just 2.6 seconds. Tesla's Model S was tested in its top-of-the-range Performance spec with the latest "Raven" powertrain, which promises 0-60 MPH in just 2.4 seconds thanks to a 754 BHP battery pack that produces 687 lb-ft of torque.

Tesla's Model S Performance "Raven" weighs 129kg less than the Taycan Turbo S, but with the power output differences, the EV's are pitted against each other as fair competitors.

In Top Gear 's silent drag race, the Tesla takes the lead. However, the faster-to-100 MPH Taycan Turbo S soon jumped in front, taking the title as the fastest of the four-door family-meets-supercar EVs. Porsche's entry finished the ¼ mile run in just 10.69 seconds, whereas the Tesla Model S Performance "Raven" finished in 11.08 seconds. Watch the drag race and Top Gear's extensive review of the two above.

In other news, Porsche is trying to sell its cars online in a similar move to Tesla.
