On Friday, Musk's lawyers sent a letter requesting that the deal be terminated. In the letter, Musk's team alleged that the severance agreement was done without Musk's knowledge or consent. The billionaire said that this was in violation of his plan to take the company private. Zatko, who was the former head of security at the company, has accused the company of misleading its users, investors and regulators on the extent of its security problems. The Department of Justice, the SEC and the FTC have been notified of the complaint. After Zatko went public with his allegation, Musk's team sent out another notice accusing the company of ignoring security concerns. The notice accused the company of breaching its consent decree with the FTC. If Zatko's allegations are true, it would have significant consequences for the company.

What To Watch For

Zatko is going to be questioned about his allegations against the social media giant at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. Several U.S. lawmakers have raised concerns about the possible violation of the FTC consent decree. Data protection authorities in Europe are investigating any potential breeches of the European Union's strict data protection and privacy laws.
