• There have been high-profile fights with Disney and Big Tech.

  • He said at the conference that Republicans should follow it.

  • He thinks that is an appropriate use of government power.

Florida's governor has fought large corporations on diversity trainings, environmental, social, and governance investing. Disney's self-governing status was stripped by him.

It's a surprising approach to business for a Republican who has support from more than 40 billionaire donors. Republicans have historically given tax breaks to corporations while avoiding regulations.

In an hourlong speech before the National Conservatism Conference on Sunday evening, the Republican candidate for governor of Florida argued that his experience in Florida made him a less attractive choice for conservatives.

"Corporatism is not the same as free enterprise, and I think too many Republicans have seen limited government to mean whatever is best for corporate America is how we want to do the economy," he said.

Free enterprise is the best economic system, but that's a way to end. It's a way to have a good fulfilling life. It isn't an end in and of itself.

The Biden administration criticized the governor for pushing through many controversial policies. There is speculation that he may run for president in twenty four years.

He needs to win reelection in Florida in the fall. He will be facing off against a man who was a Republican governor of Florida.

DeSantis' list of actions against corporations is growing

He has taken actions against what he calls "woke corporations". He wanted the State Board of Administration to ban the consideration of social, political, or ideological interests when making investments in the pension fund.

Disney World's self-governing status was revoked by the governor after the company objected to the Parental Rights in Education Act. Critics say the bill is too vague and will harm students, parents, and teachers. Critics call the law "Don't Say Gay"

Private companies would not be allowed to carry out mandatory diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings under the Stop WOKE Act. Companies with more than 15 employees could face civil lawsuits if a worker accuses them of violating the law, which says businesses can't implement trainings saying members of a specific ethnic group are inherently racist.

After Donald Trump left office, he signed a bill into law to prevent tech companies from blocking political candidates.

Some people criticize us in Florida because we've taken action to stand up to tech companies. They said it was private. They should be allowed to do what they want. They can't be seen as private entities since they are doing the regime's bidding when it comes to censoring.

But not all his plans are working

There are some business laws in Florida that are being sued. The business part of the "Stop WOKE Act" is being stayed because of free speech violations. The appeals court blocked the tech law because it said the government couldn't tell private people what to say.

Some Florida laws are hard to understand. The governor's office said it wouldn't have violated the Parental Rights law if the Miami school board had approved the measure.

During his speech on Sunday night, he predicted that his administration would prevail against legal challenges. He said that corporate America has too much power in America and that they use their economic power to change policy in this country.

"What I'm doing is giving space to the individual citizen to be able to participate in society to be able to speak his or her mind."

That is an appropriate use of government power.
