The new live-action show will be on Disney+ in November. This is a Christmas present.
As a child, I loved willow. I consider it one of my formative fantasy films, and its influence on my taste in all things fantasy is right up there with The Lord of the Rings.
The cast of wonderful characters madeWillow so wonderful. It was a derivative story that Lucas cribbed from another author, but it was so charming with its swashbuckling adventure that I really don't care. I think of it as a remake of The Lord of the Rings.
It's funny and full of heart, and it's missing from a lot of modern fantasy, which either sits squarely in the grimdark category or is so caught up in looking fanciful that the script takes a backseat.
The new willow looks like it's made of magic. It is a shame that Val Kilmer's swordsman, Madmartigan, won't be in the movie, but we do get some members of the old cast.
The other main cast members are Ruby Cruz and Tony Revolori. The cast is also getting a new member. Mr. Robot was the last show he was in. He will remember his role in Robin Hood.
Everything I want out of a return to Andowyne is captured in the trailer. There is awashbuckling adventure, the rise of a dread new evil, a colorful cast of interesting characters, and plenty of humor.
Disney+ will have willow on November 30. Please, dear gods of fantasy adaptation, I pray that you make it good, I will definitely review this one.
The first trailer is available here. Are you looking forward to it? Do you think it's trite? You can let me know on social media.
There are some images from the new movie.
