Carlos Alcaraz has been coming for the world's top tennis prizes for a while now.
With his unique combination of power, precision and speed, it has appeared almost certain that Alcaraz would contend for Grand Slam titles and the No. 1 world ranking. He won his first Masters 1000 title at 18 years of age. He won his second Masters 1000 title in Madrid in May after beating Nadal, Zverev, and others.
On Sunday, Alcaraz won his first Grand Slam title at the U.S. Open with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 victory over his opponent. Lleyton was the previous youngest.
It was the first indoor final in 18 months because the roof was closed due to rain. There was a crowd on hand to witness Alcaraz's breakthrough.
Alcaraz said that he had dreamed of this since he was a child. It is difficult to talk about being a Grand Slam winner and being the world's top ranked player. I tried to get it. I did a lot of work with my family.

The last man to win a major before his 20th birthday was Nadal. In 2005, Nadal won his first French Open title as a teenager. The last teen to win the U.S. Open was Pete Sampras in 1990. Sampras was three months younger than Alcaraz.
