The Los Angeles Dodgers will play in the playoffs for the 10th year in a row after securing a playoff spot with a win over the San Diego Padres.

All other teams in Major League Baseball are measured by the Dodgers. They have posted winning records every year for the past four years and are on the verge of their 100th win this season.

The Dodgers have won a World Series title and played in the Fall Classic three times in the last two years.

Over the past five years, the Dodgers and Astros have been the best at combining big spending and player development to keep their rosters at a high level.

When key players leave via free agency, the team has had someone ready to take their place.

Freddie Freeman was signed away from the Atlanta Braves.

Despite numerous injuries to their pitching staff, the Dodgers are on the way to leading MLB in wins again. The fifth starter spot has been up and down all season.

There have been two extended stays on the injured list that have limited him to 96.1% of his normal workload. Walker Buehler only made 12 starts before he was shut down with a flexor strain. In August, he was ruled out for the rest of the year to have Tommy John surgery.

Despite not having those two stalwarts at the top of their rotation, the Dodgers still have the best starting staff in Major League Baseball because Tyler Anderson, Julio Urias and Tony Gonsolin all have sub-3.00ERAs.

The offense is also very good. They lead MLB in offensive value by a significant margin over the second place team. They have the highest on- base percentage and slugging percentage.

The Dodgers have been the best team in baseball up to this point and should be considered the favorites to win the World Series going into October.
