According to the press release, the driver was fined and released from custody. The 50 wheels of cheese were destroyed.

The cheese amounted to a commercial amount of dairy, according to the El Paso Port Director.

Travelers can import cheese according to their consumption levels. A few wheels wouldn't be bad, but not 60. The amount was not declared and additional reporting requirements would apply.

According to the press release, dairy products can be brought across the border but are subject to restrictions by the US Border Patrol, the Department of Agriculture, and the Food and Drug Administration.
