Queen Elizabeth II's coffin was accompanied by the Princess Royal as it made its way to Edinburgh.

The Queen passed away at her vacation home in Scotland. The royal family traveled to Balmoral Castle to be with her.

The journey from the coffin to the hearse took six hours on Saturday. The coffin was draped in the Royal Standard and a wreath made of flowers from the estate, according to the AP.

The hearse traveled through the Scottish countryside, passing roadside tribute and mourning citizens along the way. The outlet said mourners packed highways and city streets as well as lined rural roads as a tribute.

While the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II was being carried into the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, Princess Anne curtsied.

The funeral for Queen Elizabeth II will take place on September 19th. The public will be able to pay their respects to the Queen in four days.

Following his mother's death, King Charles III paid homage to her.

We are sad about the passing of a beloved mother and a cherished monarch. I am certain that her loss will be felt by many people around the world. During this time of mourning and change, my family and I will be reassured by our knowledge of the deep affection that The Queen was held to.

The duke and duchess paid tribute to the queen in a brief statement on their website.
