Scott Frost was fired as Nebraska's coach on Sunday, one day after the team's loss to Georgia Southern.

The Cornhuskers were three-touchdown favorites.

I met with Coach Frost and told him we were changing the leadership of the football program. The Nebraska vice chancellor for athletics said that Scott has poured his heart and soul into the Nebraska Football program.

Mickey Joseph will take over for the remainder of the season. On Saturday, Nebraska plays Oklahoma.

After two seasons at the University of Central Florida, Scott Frost returned to his alma mater to coach the school's football team.

The Huskers never got going. In November of last year, Alberts announced he would bring back Frost after a 3-9 season. After firing four offensive assistants, he had his pay cut from $5 million to $4 million and agreed to take a $7.5 million pay cut.

There was no word on the outcome of the negotiations.

After Alberts gave him one more chance, Nebraska started the year with a disappointing loss. The loss to Georgia Southern made things worse.

The Nebraska coach ended his career with a 16-31 record.
