Harris wants lawmakers to take on domestic threats to national security without being partisan.
During an NBC News's Meet the Press interview, Harris recalled her time on the Senate Intelligence Committee and said she wanted lawmakers to address domestic threats first.
When we walked through the doors of the SCIF, Republicans, Democrats, Independents were the only ones who could see us. Harris said that people would take off their jackets, roll up their sleeves and be Americans first, focused on the threats to our national security.
When I think about what we have seen in terms of the attacks from within, I wish we would approach it the same way as Americans.
When asked if threats from within the US were as dangerous as foreign threats, Harris said it was very harmful. It makes us less strong.
More than a week ago, President Joe Biden warned of the dangers of extremists from Trump supporters during a speech.
When one side believes there are only two outcomes to an election, democracy can't survive. That's where the Democrats are today.
Harris said Biden worked across the aisle.
There are times when we have to agree with good people who care about our country who are not defending our democracy. The president of the United States should speak up and raise the alarm about what this means to our strength and our future.
