The team didn't get to celebrate back home in North Carolina after pulling a historic upset at Texas A&M.

The team was forced to stay at a hotel in College Station because of mechanical issues with the charter. The team stayed in various hallways, conference rooms and the lobby area after the hotel sold out.

The team spent three hours at the airport on Saturday before going back to the hotel. They woke up at 3:30 a.m. and boarded a flight at 4:30 a.m.

On Sunday, the team flew to Charlotte. The team buses were expected to arrive in Boone around 11 a.m. after they landed.

It wouldn't be hard to keep the spirit of the team and staff. They pulled off what will be remembered as the second-biggest upset in school history, stunning a Texas A&M program that had been stockpiling talented recruits. The second Top 10 team to lose to a program from the Sun Belt on Saturday was the Aggies.

While attempting to wait out the mechanical issues on Saturday night, coach Shawn Clark was told the program would be hosting College GameDay for the first time on Saturday Clark has been a member of the staff for seven seasons and took over in 2020.

The loss to North Carolina was heartbreaking, as the Mountaineers scored 40 points in the fourth quarter, but still lost 63 61.

The ball was held for 39 minutes and 29 seconds. The gameplan by Kevin Barbary and turnover-free execution by the quarterback and tailback allowed the team to break the game open. The second-half drives of 11 plays and 18 plays took more than 15 minutes to complete.

When Appalachian State upset Michigan in 2007, it was seen as a big deal. It was the third victory over a ranked opponent for the school.

The school won three Football Championship Subdivision titles before moving up to the highest level of football. Mack Brown, Jerry Moore, Eliah Drinkwitz, and Scott Satterfield are some of the former head coaches there.

Texas A&M paid a large amount of money to play a game.
