The free update for the iPhone 8 and newer will be released on September 12.

When the update is released, you can install it by opening the settings app on your phone. Check out our list of useful new features to try after you update your phone to the new operating system.

Customize the Lock Screen

The ability to personalize the Lock Screen with multi-layer wallpapers, widgets, custom fonts for the date and time, and more is the headline new feature of the app. To shuffle photos on the Lock Screen, you can choose a set of photos.

There is a new Weather wallpaper with live weather conditions and an Astronomy wallpaper that gives views of the Earth, Moon, and Solar System in the Lock Screen gallery.

Edit or Unsend an iMessage

iMessages can be temporarily edited or un sent, as well as conversations being marked as unread after opening them.

You can change an iMessage for up to 15 minutes after sending it. It is possible for recipients to see a record of edits made to the message, and it is also possible for a new message to be received.

If you want to unsend a message, simply tap and hold on a bubble and select the option in the menu that appears. Messages that have been edited are sent as a new message.

Use the Full-Screen Music Player

There is a full-screen music player on the Lock Screen.

The Lock Screen had a full-screen music player in the past. If you don't like the feature, you can change the Lock Screen wallpaper to something else.

Game With Nintendo Joy-Cons

The Nintendo Switch's Joy-Con and Pro Controller can be used with either single left or right Joy-Con, or both at once.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X controllers are compatible with the iPhone in the past.

Track an Apple Pay Order

Tracking information for online orders can be found in the Wallet app when using Apple Pay. When a package is out for delivery is indicated by the tracker.

Close Your Rings Without an Apple Watch

Even without an Apple Watch, the fitness app is available on the iPhone. A person's calories burned and steps per day are estimated by the daily activity ring in the app.

In the 21 countries where the service is available, fitness+ will be available for iPhone users without an Apple watch later this year. The price of fitness+ is either $9.99 per month or $799.99 per year.
