  • Google is said to be developing new built-in features to improve your videoconferencing experience on Chromebooks.
  • These features include background blur and other effects to improve lighting.
  • Chrome OS could also get a new feature that warns you if your connection is unstable during a call.

Built-in video effects appear to be one of the new features that will bolster the video conferencing experience on Chromebooks.

A background blur effect for Chromebooks is being developed by the Chrome OS team. The feature is available on Apple's machines. Many of the best video conference software include background blur.

As a built-in feature, these effects will improve the user experience on the platform, which has been lagging behind Windows PCs and MacBooks in features. Background blur is a good way to hide your messy bedroom when video- calling with your colleagues.

Background blur is only one of many capabilities underway. There is a feature called "Portrait Relighting". It's similar to a feature in the camera app of the phone. Portrait Light can be used to complement the lighting in the original photo.
