The Las Vegas Aces will play the Connecticut Sun in the first game of the finals. There is a station in southernNevada. The Las Vegas Raiders play their first game of the season at the Los Angeles Clippers.
Mark Davis is in Southern California to attend his football team's season opener. He told the sports network Saturday night that a list of pros and cons was needed.
"As I've said before, I feel like a single parent with two children and each one of them have something different to do on the same day at the same time, and you have to make a decision." It made it easier for me to come to the Raider game after I thought about it. I don't know if I'll be missed as much because the home crowd in Las Vegas is so supportive of the team.
It was a good idea to do that. If we have to play in Connecticut next Sunday, I will attend the game because it will be a deciding game.
The Raiders play host to the Cards in the fourth game of the finals. Davis couldn't remember the last game he attended.
The real deal to me is that the Aces are not a hobby. I'm 100% in on that. We hope to bring a championship to Las Vegas. You've seen it before with Jerry Tarkanian and the UNLV Runnin' Rebels, so maybe this will be another one.
Davis, who was besieged by selfie-seeking fans in the lobby of the team hotel and granted each photo wish, also spoke on how he did not like Game 1 of the WNBA Finals going up against the start of the football season.
He said it was difficult to understand why and how. I don't know who made that decision, it was either the networks or the league. They need to think about it. It makes no sense to have the first game of the NBA Finals against the opening game of the football league. Hopefully people will hear this and watch TV in their bars. I hope people watch the basketball game on one of the TVs while they watch the football game.
We're trying to get eyeballs on this league and that's how you get media contracts, so it doesn't make sense to me. We're trying to get a media contract that will make it possible for these women to get more money or the teams to be able to operate. It makes it even more difficult. The argument is more difficult because they will say, "Well, look at your ratings, they didn't get a lot of eyeballs." That will be used to negotiate. We're not going to be stopped. We're going to get there.
On the eve of the opener, Davis said he doesn't know enough about the team because of the stars they have.
The Raiders had a perfect record in exhibition games.
We haven't seen the ones yet, but I've seen preseason and some practice. It will be interesting to watch that.
It's great. We have a lot of weapons on our side. We have a great offense and we'll see how the defense performs. The defense can be very interesting. We're going to see.
