Most of us were watching the shitshow in Austin that turned into an early Heisman resume builder for defending-award recipient. There were a lot of weird things in the early days of gridiron. Arkansas began SEC play with a win over South Carolina.
The Razorbacks are a trendy pick to fall on their face the rest of the season or make a run at the New Year's Six. Outside of facing two teams from the Show-Me State, up next is Missouri State and a season finale against the University of Missouri. It will help build an impressive resume. There isn't much in between.
The consistent quarterback play that dominated most of this century in Columbia was not on display today. The first trio of SEC foes for Missouri are Georgia, Florida and auburn. There's a big "woof."
The honeymoon periods continued for Ohio State, NC State, and Miami. In a win over Arkansas State, Marvin Harrison Jr. caught seven passes for 184 yards and three touchdown and is emerging as a premier receiver in the Big Ten. In Nashville, Wake Forest took down a previously perfect Commodores team.
It was a nail-biter against Georgia State as North Carolina won by a touchdown. Duke was able to overcome a great performance by Ryan Hilinski, who threw for 435 yards, to win the game. After a loss to Florida, Utah came back with a vengeance, putting up more than 70 points on Southern Utah. Penn State and Minnesota were the top performers.

The Kansas State running back is the biggest winner from the first window. The All-American from a year ago is in a good position to take down an All-American running back this year and not be shut out at his own position again. He had over 150 yards and two touchdown. The Kansas State record for most yards in a game by a running back is held by Sproles. Who will the Cats face in the next fortnight? It should be a challenge in Oklahoma.
