Chase Brice threw for 134 yards and a touchdown and Appalachian State took advantage of two turnovers to stun Texas A&M.

In the opening game of the season, Appalachian State scored six touchdown and 40 points in the fourth quarter.

After Christian Wells dropped a touchdown pass on third down, Appalachian State settled for a 29-yard field goal by Michael Hughes to take a 17-14 lead.

The Aggies had a chance to tie it with about 3 1/2 minutes to go, but a missed field goal.

Peoples had a 1-yard run on third down to keep the drive going. He ran 48 yards to the 12 on the next play to get the ball back.

After losing in overtime to Tennessee in 2016 and dropping an OT game to Penn State in the same year, it was the first win over a team in The AP Top 25.

A blocked field goal in the final seconds of the game gave the WVUs a 34-32 win over Michigan.

Saturday was a banner day for the Sun Belt conference, with Marshall upsetting Notre Dame. It's the first time in nearly two decades that a Group of Five conference has won a game against a Top 10 opponent.

Shawn Clark, the A&M coach, was left looking for ways to fix his defense after the 63-point performance by North Carolina.

The Aggies had trouble getting much else going on a mistake-filled day as they had trouble getting a touchdown in the first half and a return for a score in the third.

The Mountaineers had more first downs than the A&M and had more total. They held a 41:29 to 18:31 advantage in that area.

Evan Stewart fumbled after a reception in the third quarter, and it was recovered by NickHampton.

The Mountaineers took a 14-7 lead when Henry Pearson caught a reception from Brice in the third.

The lead was short-lived as Achane scored a touchdown on the ensuing kick off. Achane, who is a sprinter on Texas A&M's track team, juked a defender before shed a would-be tackler and raced down the field for the score to tie it at 14-all.

King lost the ball late in the first quarter. Texas A&M lineman Layden Robinson recovered the ball, but he also fumbled, and this time it was the other way around.

Ahmani Marshall scored on a 4-yard run early in the second quarter to make it a seven point game.

Achane ran 26 yards for a touchdown to tie it up.

King completed 97 passes.

The loss puts a huge damper on Texas A&M's hopes of winning a national title, leaving them in an early hole before SEC play begins. They have a chance to get back on track against the Hurricanes.

The AP Top 25 should include Appalachian State.
