They have until the 27th of September to claim their prize if they choose the lump sum. The annuity option will only be available after that.

If a person wins a prize of $250,000 or more, they don't have to reveal their identity. The lucky ticket holder has a year to collect their fortune. If states don't claim their money contribution will be returned.
It's not unusual for a person who wins a lot of money to not come forward immediately, according to a press release.
"For a prize of this magnitude, it's not unusual for a winner to take a little bit longer to claim the prize as they may want to seek professional legal and financial advice prior to claiming," according to the Illinois lottery.
